The Benchmark Scientific BSC1006-B red mini-centrifuge includes two rotors, six adapters and spins samples at 6,600 rpm (rotations per minute), with an rcf (relative centrifugal force) of 2,200 x g, making it suitable for a variety of micro sample sizes and protocols in the research lab. It has two interchangeable rotors – a fixed-angle, six-place rotor for 1.5/2.0 mL micro tubes and a PCR strip tube rotor for either 2 x 8 PCR strips or 16 x 0.2 mL tubes. Additional adapters (6) are also included for 0.4 - 0.5 mL tubes. It has a clear, see-through lid for observing the sample during the spin cycle, and an electronic safety cut-off that de-activates the centrifuge when the lid is opened. The centrifuge accelerates to its maximum 6,600 rpm then decelerates and stops within seconds for efficient operation. The mini-centrifuge is used for cell culture applications and separating cell lysates in a research laboratory.

The Benchmark Scientific BSC1006-B centrifuge operates at 115V/60 Hz with a temperature range from 4 to 50 degrees C. It spins up to 6,600 rpm and is red in color. The centrifuge measures 3.9 x 5.0 x 5.4 inches/10.0 x 12.6 x 13.8 cm (H x W x D). (H is height, the vertical distance from lowest to highest point; W is width, the horizontal distance from left to right; D is depth, the horizontal distance from front to back.)

A centrifuge is used to spin fluids of different densities to separate various parts, commonly blood and DNA samples. Centrifuges are composed of the main body or housing and a spinning rotor. Tubes of cellular material suspended in liquid are inserted into the rotor and spun at various speeds to separate components. Centrifuges are used in medical, industrial, and research laboratories, as well as academic and clinical settings.

Benchmark Scientific, Inc. manufactures microcentrifuges, autoclaves, shakers, mixers, rockers, sterilizers and temperature control equipment for the research lab. It has its headquarters in South Plainfield, N.J.
